These microscopic sea-moth-like creatures
(10 known species) are less than 0.4 mm 
down to 0.1 mm. 

Lorica + ferre (Latin: To bear (ferro) a corset)

The "corset" (lorica - a leather cuirass - a breast
                       plate used as armor). These
occur in -[diatoms]-, rotifers, and some protozoa)

consists of 6 plates from within which the micro
creature can project out to catch its food. Which
are pre-summed to be microbes or bacteria.
